worried about what is wrong with me (swollen tonsils, swollen lymph nodes)
So about 3 weeks ago i had strep throat with flared tonsils, fever, swollen lymph nodes, etc. I was given an antibiotic (amoxicillan) that seemed to do the trick and my strep cleared up. Now about a week later after my strep cleared up my tonsils became swollen again and lymph nodes under jaw are inflamed. There is no pain in my throat just feels closed off a bit. Went to doctor again and throat culture was negative, they sent me off saying its a virus and to give it time. Im experiencing some headaches, nausea, swollen tonsils, swollen lymph nodes currently. They had done a cbc blood test back when i had the strep and that was normal. They also did a mono test. What im worried about is cancer. Ive read about it and my symptoms seem to fit under it. On top of this im diagnosed with generalized anxiety so that makes everything a bit harder. Would my cbc have shown issues pertaining to cancer from 3 weeks ago? Is saying its a virus proper diagnosis? Do i just need to give it time? Thanks all for taking time to ready my novel if you made it this far.

If I were you I would be doing whatever I could to improve my immune system, like going off all sugar and doing all the things we all know are important. Then, if I started to feel better by any amount, I would know that it was nothing serious.
FYI..intolerances (which can start at any time) to dairy will cause the symptoms you are having.

Hi there. I just want to say, to ease your worry some, that I get swollen lymh nodes in my neck too. It's bee happening for 30 years now. the first time I was sent to a specialist to see if it might be hodgekinson's desease but the results came back negative. I got this thing in the fall and the spring mostly and was always,it seemed on antibiotics. After a while a quit going to the Dr. because the lump seemed to run it's corse on it's own and go away without meds. The lumb can get as large as a hard boiled egg and is very uncomfortable when large. This is not saying that your outcome will be anything like mine just trying to let you know it happens to other ppl and is not always cancer. Hope this makes you feel better.

both test negative, going back tmrw for the next step. Now lymph nodes by groin and armpits are swollen. notice white spots all in throat and back of tongue is white with bumps. Gonna ask doc what i should do for next step. Seems to be getting worse =/

The job of lymph glands is to help destroy the viruses in your body. they swell up and until they process all of the "junk", they will remain swollen. once the swelling goes down they have done their job. My oldesst son once had the nodes in his groin swollen. The doctor told us that as the bacteria was dissolved, the nodes would shrid, but it owuld take up to 6 months or more...

dang thats long time.
well i went in today and had an EBV titers done, sed rate, and C reactive protein. i will get results in few days. Ill be heading home from college this weekend I may be getting a ct scan of my neck as well to determine if i need a biopsy....
