hemoglobin

Hi A am new here. I am a 55 year old female. I went to donate blood and was deferred due to a hemoglobin of 10.5 on a finger stick. In December I donated and was 12.5. I am concerned as I usually think the worst. I had a hysterectomy 3 years ago. Is this something to be worried about? I did have a CBC but am still waiting results so my mind tends to wonder as I wait. Thank you for your help

Re: hemoglobin

Welcome to our board. You are probably worrying over nothing. Your count is within normal, maybe a little low. Maybe some iron supplements of liver foods might help. Your surgery 3 years ago shouldn't have anything to do with this. Are you taking any replacement hormones? Make sure you are eating right and getting all the vitamins and minerals you need. I found after my surgery that I was low in magnesium and calcium and this created extreme anxiety in me. I am also using a good progesterone cream which seems to help a lot. Good luck and let us know how the tests turned out. Relax.
