Strange Feeling When Hungry...

Well, the first time this happend was about 2 years ago. I was at Home Depot with my dad and it was around 6 hours since i had breakfast. I started feeling hungry. In about 5-10 minutes my hunger spiked and a couple of stuff started happening. I got really pale (like almost white), and i felt cold as thats what usually goes with the paleness. My vision become blurred and my mind was just off, i couldn't really see anything, only colors. I felt like i was about to faint. I was scared and tried searching around, grabbing a bag of beef jerky and trying to stuff it down. After eating a good amount of the bag, i started feeling better and after buying some chips and stuff i was back to normal. This also happend while i was at Six Flags. The exact same thing happened. I managed to buy myself a cup of lemonade, spilling half of it x.x due to bad coordination, and chugged it along with chewing some gum. I felt somewhat better. Can you guys help me and tell me if this is normal? Also is it because i was dehydrated or because of hunger? (i've yet to figure it out) The third time it happened, my mom bought my ice cream, which is kind of in the cross between a food and a drink.

Sounds like classic low blood sugar. Eat more frequently. You might want to have it checked the next time you go to the doctor for a check up.

Same thing happens to me. I have started eating on a schedule to help with it. I also try and find something to eat if I feel hungry just so I don't start shaking and feeling lightheaded. I like to keep a small granola bar with me at all times just to in case.

Re: Strange Feeling When Hungry...

I really intend to agree with Titchou, it sounds like your sugar is going low. When was the last time you had a good physical or was checked for a sugar problem? Is there anyone in your family with Diabetes and has a meter so you could check what your sugar level is when this happens?

Yes dehydration will do it as well, but it seems you feel better after you eat hence the possibility of low sugar. Keep some kind of candy etc. handy just in case it happens again.

Hope you get to the bottom of it...JJ....

thanks alot everyone. I'll keep that in mind. My yearly physical/checkup is coming up in like a month or 2 and i'll be sure to ask my doctor about it. I'll also look up on the low blood sugar and diabetes thing. I am really, i don't know, nervous/scared right now hope everything turns out alright.
