Every time I eat, no matter what it is...I have to clear my throat for at least an hour. It's not really even my throat...it feels like its comes from my chest. It's quite embarrassing.
I've read similar threads, but they refer to Acid reflux, but I'm not experiencing acid reflux. It feels like someone is sitting on my chest and I have to clear the mucus from it.
I am at wits end. I don't know what to do, and It's so embarrassing!
Hi there might be a pocket or something in the esophagus, an upper GI specialist might be able to help but one could check with the GP to be sure that is the one needed.
The fact that it's only happening after you eat would lead me to believe acid reflux.
Just for the heck of it, and to quench my curiosity, try drinking a tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar (not the other kind) in a glass of water and see what happens. Come back and let me know.
After. Drink it slowly. It really doesn't taste bad at all. Some people drink it as a thirst quencher. Remember Apple Cider Vinegar, not the white vinegar.

Hi the opinion of some health professionals is that vinegar makes the body too acidic. Apple cider is the same acetic acid as white vinegar. It might contribute to heartburn sometimes instead of helping it in my opinion.
A good drink of water though might be more useful.
Yes, SJB is correct in that it is acidic, but many people with GERD are finding, for some reason, that it helps. My sis is one of those people. I was hoping that it just might help our OP.
Hi Suferembarrassed I know it was said that it was thought there is no acid reflux. Some people do have hypochoridia which is a condition of low stomach acid. This condition might be relieved by a lemon and maybe salt, since it contains the chloride ion.
However if there is another problem then that might not help.
In order to fix the problem the true cause must be found. Once the cause is found then the problem may or may not be fixed depending on what it is.
Have you seen a GI Dr. to get some upper GI tests done? Many times trying to self diagnose yourself isn't the best idea. You can try many different things, but many may not work if you are not treating the REAL problem.
Best wishes...JJ...
