31 yr old male here who is a GERD sufferer. Recently I decided to get back on probiotics(they came from Walmart). Took one pill three days ago. Since then I have had watery stool, flu symptoms, headaches, and sore lungs.
Today I woke up and all the side effects were gone, or so I thought. Now the back of my upper left arm(tricep area) is sore and feels like it has a knot in it. The pain is unbearable.
Just wondering if anyone else has went through a similar thing. Scared and dont know what is going on here.
Hi since there is pain in the upper left arm I would head to the emergency room right away. They say pain in the left arm can indicate a heart attack although there are other causes of left arm pain.
Sometimes a Probiotic will make you get a little Diarrhea as it has a cleansing affect but the pains I seriously doubt are from them. If things don't subside soon I would get it checked out, even if it means an ER visit.
Are you having any chest discomfort or shortness of breath?
Keep us posted and best wishes...JJ..

This is all strange because I took these probiotics before and had no reaction. Maybe the bottle went bad. After researching side effects online it does say that muscle aches are one of them, so hopefully this is the problem. I bought some tea tree oil and rubbed it on my arm and it seems to be helping. It's just hard to believe that probiotics can effect the same person so differently each time. Also possibly pulled an arm muscle when was vomiting, hard to tell. Thanks for the advice, will keep you posted.
Just curious...what Probiotic was it and did you look for an expiration date? My Dr. recommended Schiff Probiotic Acidophilus and so far, so good. I like this brand as it is such a tiny pill and requires no refridgeration.
Keep us posted and feel better...JJ...

Hi well the other thing might be that if a person had the flu and looked at the contents of the bottle or the label and decided they did not want the bottle for some reason they might have set it back down.
It is probably a good idea to wash hands when coming home from a store and also to avoid touching the face.

Reason: addition
When I tried to take probiotics that my GI specialist gave me (samples) I had horrid gurgling in my esophagus, burping, just miserable. So I went back to my Vitamin Shoppe brand: Acidophilus with Pectin, Dairy Free. I keep the container in the refrigerator (doesn't say I have to but I do)...and I only take one a day, right after breakfast (never on an empty stomach). I got weird looks from doctors when I mention that this is the only probiotic I can take but it works for me. Try another brand and just take one a day, right after a meal, to see how your system handles it.
