Re: Pain in left arm

Hi I understand that sometimes the cardiac enzymes can tell something the ECG cannot. The next time maybe they will do that one.

Seeing they did an ECG and ETT I think your ok with no heart problem, plus it wouldn't last 5 months without something else going wrong.

Being Diabetic and on Glucophage I know that can cause pains and aches in many folks. You also need to speak with your Dr. and ask about Diabetic neuropathy, also known as PN. My husband has it very bad but mostly feet and now starting in the hands.

The chest pains could be anything from from Acid reflux, Gerd or indigestion. Think it's time for a good physical if you haven't had one recently. Naturally if the chest pains get worse see your Cardio Dr.

Wishing you well...JJ....

Re: Pain in left arm

Hi JJ and sjb
Grateful for responding and good wishes. I actually got my cardiac enzyme and lipid profile and ECG cheched two days ago. Everything is fine. only cholestrol was 209, should have been less than 200 as per referance range. But pain is now in middle of chest and not in left arm but again not consistent not severe. I also have history of gastritis and haver been using Omeprazole for quite long time. no signs of neuoropathy observed as well. Sugar levels are fine. Have discontinued atorva for choletrol lowering as this also contributes for muscle pains. Met a general physician who also suspected some other problem not cardiac but i am worried and confused. Will see a cardiologist on 26 Apr also.

Re: Pain in left arm

Well I'm glad so far your tests about the heart are all ok. Yes, many cholesterol lowering drugs can cause people pain. I tried taking 3 different statins and one was worse then the other. I got to the point I felt walking to the end of my driveway to get the mail was a HIKE! Needless to say I dumped them and refuse to take any as does hubby as he had the same problem.

Does kind of sound like you have some intestinal thing going on so hopefully if it is that they can give you something. You may also find the pains less being off the stuff for your cholesterol, but it will take awhile, mine took several months.

A TC of 202 isn't bad. Yes I know they like the numbers as low as possible but some Drs. get crazy over a little hike in numbers. So far hubby and I have been keeping numbers low with diet. Yes we cheat a little at times but hey, we are human... Drs. aren't concerned.

Keep us psoted how your visit goes and good luck...JJ...

Re: Pain in left arm

Hi here are side effects of Omeprazole according to the NIH:
stomach pain

diarrhea

constipation

gas

nausea

vomiting

headache

fever

Some side effects can be serious. If you experience any of these symptoms, call your doctor immediately:

rash

hives

itching

swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs

difficulty breathing or swallowing

hoarseness

I have read in another place cholesterol can sometimes be helped by avoiding all animal products because these contain it and lowering sugars, and fats may help lower it also. Time in the sunshine may help convert the cholesterol to vitamin D and the artificial sources of vitamin D maybe aught to be avoided by someone who has a high cholesterol since cholesterol is converted into D by the body. If the D is already present the cholesterol might just collect without proper conversion.
