Parasite?

I have had long stingy mucos blown out of my nose four or five times over the past two weeks. About 1/2 to 1 inch long and resembles the vein you remove from a shrimp but more red in color. My health is good other than the bit of congestion and mucus that I clear a few times a day.

Should I be concerned this is a parasite/worm?

Re: Parasite?

I am certainly not a doctor, but htis is allergy season and that is consistant with mucus that you get during this season. You may say that you don't have allergies, but this year has been particularily bad and even people who don't normally have issues are having problems....try taing an antihistamine for a few days as see if it doesn't clear up.

Do you have some specific reason that you would think it is a parasite? Have you been anywhere where that is an issue?

I've never seen mucus like that before, but I've lived my whole life without allergies up till three or four years ago. I was mostly concerned because I eat raw oysters and sushi and didn't know if that could cause parasites.

Re: Parasite?

The chances of getting any kind of serious parasite in your body are very low in the first place. Also you would probably have much worse, and multiple symptoms if it was something this serious. Bake is right to suggest that it is probably allergies. I think your best option is to get checked out for that at the doctor.
