I had surgery on my right foot a little over a week ago because I broke it in a car accident. I have pins holding the bones together on the inside and stitches on the incision. Of course after surgery my entire foot was very very sore, but it has subsided almost completely. The incision/stitches never really hurt all that much, however, since yesterday, the area around the stitches is sore, and it wasn't before. I can't see the spot at all due to my cast, so its kind of frustrating wondering what is going on in there. Also, since the swelling went down, my foot moves inside the cast somewhat, and presses against the side of the cast. I'm worried that I messed them up. It might sound silly, because slight pain doesn't necessarily mean anything, but its just a little unnerving not knowing what the area looks like. I guess I'm wondering how easy is it to mess the stitches up or get an infection. I realize I have a cast, so its less likely, but I'm just wondering if I should be concerned. I do have an appointment with the surgeon next Thursday, but wanted to ask opinions now.
Also is it easy to mess up the pins inside? I'm supposed to stay off my foot, and I do, but there have been times where I've hit it too hard by accident when using my crutches. I just don't want to mess anything up!
Haha I probably sound way too worried, but I just want this injury to heal quickly!
