How To Get Prescription Meds While Traveling Abroad
Hello, I'm not quite sure where to post this question, so I assume "general" is ok.
In the coming months I plan on doing some extensive international travel. However- I have a bipolar disorder (type 2) and I take a lot of medications. So I was wondering if anyone knew about the logistics of getting medication while abroad, or if it's possible to "stock up" on meds before leaving the US. I have yet to talk to my psychiatrist about this, but I am determined to not let my illness get in the way of my life goals.

Hi AnEpitonic, good for you to follow your dream and do some traveling. You'll have a great time! Now for your scripts, I am on medicare/medicaid and also have bipolar amongst other things. Through my prescription plan they will fill a three months suppy for you but not for controlled drugs. Your dr will have to fill out a three months supply script and you fill out a short form send it all in to your prescription provider and they fill it and mail it to you. Call your prescription provider and see if they do this. My provider is Aetna. So make a few calls, get everything in order, and go have a great time. By the way, can you swing by and pick me up? I wanna go too!

I recently spent a few months overseas and my dr wrote me a larger script to cover the time I would be away.
