Weight Gain After Surgery: Urgent!
I am 19 years old. On August 2nd, 2011 I had a Spinal Fusion surgery that fused most of my spine to cure my scoliosis. Before the operation, I was about 6 feet tall and weighed 125 pounds. I have always been aware that I was underweight, and before my surgery I had been trying to gain weight for some time, by eating more, exercising regularly, and drinking supplement drinks to help my gain weight. The results were minimal to none. After my surgery, I spent 6 days in the hospital, unable to eat more than small amounts of food. Even for sometime afterwards, stomach issues prevented me from eating regular amounts of food. I am slowly recovering and each day being able to eat and drink more and more, but the surgery has taken a toll on my weight. I am now 6' 1 1/2" tall, and weight 115 pounds. I am completely unsatisfied with this after attempting to gain weight for so long beforehand.
Is there anything I can do, aside from the obvious like eating more calories, that I can do to gain weight quicker? I have been trying for almost a year with almost no results, and the surgery has set me back very far.
Any helpful tips are greatly appreciated!
