Deep Tissue Hematoma
I had a Mt biking accident 3 months ago and landed on a rock trauma to left upper exterior thigh below hip. No laceration to the leg just internal bruising and swelling that lasted about two months. The bruise resolved and swelling mostly subsided but now there is a plum size bulge out of my leg that is compressable but also has some firmness on outside edges. I went to the orthopedic surgeon who drained 25 CC of blood out of the hematoma.
I noticed a significant change in size after the drainage but; With in two days the hematoma was back to the same size. It is warm to the touch but not painful. Just hate that it looks like an elbow coming out of my upper outside thigh and shows though my clothes. I dont know if I should go to a vascualr surgeon to see where the blood is coming from. My ortho doctor assumed that the bleeding was not ongoing prior to the drainage due to the time since the injury. But clearly something is still bleeding if it filled right back up that quickly.
Is there any other risks involved with a deep tissue hematomas? And what is the next option is drainage is not successful..
