Help! Is something wrong with me? I feel like I'm dying...
I'm a 20 year old female, 5'6" and I'm definitely not obese. I weigh 150, but am slim/average. Anyways, back in July I suffered from a hemiplegic migraine, and since then my arm on my left side has felt like it was tingly and sometimes weak. A little over two weeks ago, I started feeling pain running down my neck, chest, shoulder, and arm, and hand along with tingling and weakness. I also felt nauseous and dizzy, especially when I would lay down in bed. I've been taking iron and vitamin B-12 to help it, but it hasn't done much. I went to the doctor, and she told me it was a pinched nerve and that I just needed rest and to take motrin. I've been doing that (along with still continuing iron and B-12), but lately, I feel worse. I feel pain in my lower back now and am experiencing things like muscle twitches throughout my body (including in the face and near my left eye and temple), tingling sensation on the sides of my face, weakness in legs (to the point where I feel I can barely stand or walk very far without falling over, though I haven't, or do normal activities without feeling like it's draining my energy), feel dazed on occasion, depression, anxiety, fear of going to sleep (I've been staying up to about 3-4 am nearly every night), fear that there's something seriously wrong with me/dying, fear of being by myself (I always want my husband near me), and hot/cold sensations wherever tingling starts. On top of that, I feel pain in my right ear, though my doctor said there was a lot of ear wax on that side.... But still... This is all driving me crazy and I've been in tears for the past couple of days because I'm scared...I need help.
Re: Help! Is something wrong with me? I feel like I'm dying...
I am very sorry to hear you are having such troubles. I am unable to give you specific advice but I do some pointers:
Often these symptoms could also be caused by a number of other underlying problems. They are usually pleas from the body after months or years of unintentional mistreatment. In todays society it is very easy to lose communication with our bodies and listen to what it has to tell us.
What do you eat? The more I learn about nutrition and health, the more I learn about how influential diet and exercise are on your health and wellness. Depending on what specifically people eat, the body has it's own way of dealing with the toxins and chemicals one might ingest if he/she eats too much “junk” food. There are many side effects from this kind of diet including: mood swings, physical pain, problems sleeping, lack of energy, and many others.
What is your lifestyle like? Often physical inactivity could be an issue with performance, as it can cause problems with the muscles, the joints, and the spine. A person should stretch and use their muscles daily to keep keep them strong and healthy. One should also exercise regular and have a proper diet (an abundance of fruits and vegetables, limited dairy/meat products, and limited junk food.) to keep their spine and joints strong and healthy.
As for your specific scenario, I would recommend not taking anymore painkillers, as they do more harm than good by simply removing the symptom, (which would be discomfort and pain in your case) and do not resolve the issue. No body in this world knows your life and body as well as you do, and you must seriously assess your lifestyle and contemplate on what these problems are caused by.
I have only discovered my passion for health and wellness and can only share with you the limited knowledge I have. I hope I have helped you in some way.
