Hi there, I really hope someone can help me. I am a 36 year old otherwise healthy female who is average height and (probably) even a tad underweight. I have always had a large appetite, but nothing like what is happening recently.
A week ago, I woke up, had cereal, coffee, then 3 hours later realized I didnt eat lunch. I was famished with low energy, ate some cashews in the car and then went to Subway to get a veggie sub on wheat. While in line, I ended up shaking like a leaf, grabbing onto a stranger and muttering "I think I might pass out". I hunched to a table, sucked on my sandwich, and for the rest of the day, felt horrible. I made my boyfriend drive an hour to meet me because I could barely function and my heart was pounding out of my chest.
The very next day, I was driving and a similar thing happened. I ate before I left the house, and then an hour later, while driving home WHAM, I started shaking while driving and felt like I was going to pass out (while driving!). I pulled into Burger King drive thru and ordered a chicken sandwich and water. The chicken seemed to help MUCH MORE than the veggie subway sub, but I still felt terrible. It is a combination of: hunger, heart palpitations, a heaviness over my heart, lack of focus/control/energy and lightheadedness.
I have quit coffee since "the episode" (which may explain why I am "feeling hungry" more, as coffee does suppress the appetite) and have started keeping a food log. I have found that I get hungry, as in FAMISHED, MUST EAT NOW, EVERY HOUR. Also, I am eating things like oatmeal with nuts and almond milk, eggs, steak and brown rice, homemade soups, chicken, veggies, yogurt, healthy oils, but it doesnt matter. Sometimes I eat one thing at a time and don't physically get full AT ALL, while othertimes, I eat a well balanced meal & feel amazing, but an hour later, WHAM, its like I havent eaten all day.
My friends have always made fun of me for eating so much and everyone in my family has a super high metabolism (my mom needs to eat something every 3 hours), but every hour seems insane, not to mention super high maintenance!!! It's hard to even leave the house, run and errand and be done in an hour. I have always had to carry snacks on me anyway (apples, nuts, water, tea), but these are now barely working.
I have GERD and some food sensitivities, but not to any of the above foods (that I know of). I have no health insurance and am driving my boyfriend crazy with diagnosing myself online. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! And no, I'm not pregnant or having my period.
