Odd feeling in throat whenever I swallow... flap-like feeling?
Hello there. For the past 10 days, I have had this odd feeling in my throat whenever I swallow.
This is what happened 10 days ago.. I was eating a cereal bar and I felt like a piece of oatmeal got left at the bottom of my tongue. I put my finger down my tongue and I touched the back portion of my throat with my index finger. Then I felt nausea due to touching the sensitive part of the inside. Once the nausea feeling went away, I had this feeling left over afterwards. Whenever I swallow anything, I get this feeling.. It is not pain but just feels weird. like some sort of flap or something.. I only feel it when I swallow
I showed this to a doctor 2 days ago, and she told me to open wide. She said the back of my throat looked a bit red. She prescribed me some Azithromycin 250mg to take for 5 days. I just took the first dose just today.
I am still not sure why I get this feeling though. What sort of flap is down there? Could I have maybe hit it when I put my fingers down my throat? I mean I paid co-pay just to go show the doctor. Should I call her up next time or go show this to a different doctor? Would my GI be able to help or only general physician?

Yes, I do have acid reflux. Could this feeling last for 10 days straight though whenever I swallow?? I was taking Prevacid every other day since January since my GI told me to try it.
The feeling does slightly feel a bit less today so there is a possibility it was some sort of infection. I just took my first antibiotic yesterday. It is still there though. It annoys the heck out of me more than anything - hoping it goes away.
I guess I will go through the 5 day dose of Azithromiacin. If this doesn't go away, what do you think I should do? Call up the doctor that prescribed that antibiotic and ask her directly? maybe she would recommend I go see another throat specialist or something...

Is there a reason you're on Prevacid only every second day? Maybe upping it to daily?
If it persists, you would be best to see the doctor and ask to be referred to an ENT, who can check farther into your throat and see if there's something going on.
Did you recently change your toothpaste or add a new food?

Yeah, I decided to up it to daily. It's 15mg of it that I was prescribed, but I kind of got lazy with it and started taking it every other day. Going back to daily now tho starting couple days ago.
I have not changed toothpaste and as for food... hard to say. The only thing that I have noticed recently is a change of regularity. I have been getting on-and-off constipation, but I am not sure if that is related to this issue. Been on-and-off constipation for couple months now.. around the time I started taking Prevacid and low dose of carvedilol (3.125mg, once a day) for increased heart rate that I had for some time now (115 bpm).
