| Sudden numbness in limbs: Help please!
Hi, I'm an 18 year old male and have never had any problems like this in the past.
I was out all day yesterday and was absolutely fine, and I was also fine for the rest of the night. However, at around 12:30am, I got up from a computer chair that I had only been sat in for around 15-20 minutes, and my right leg was completely asleep.
I couldn't walk at all and had to rub my leg for about a minute before the feeling came back into it. Although, the leg did not feel right for the rest of the night, it almost felt as if it was very heavy.
I thought nothing else of it, I just thought "Oh, I've been sat still and my leg fell asleep. It's normal". Well anyway, I soon noticed that whenever I left my leg still for a few minutes, it would start to go numb again. Sitting or lying down made no difference and I started to get really scared.
I laid awake until around 5:30am, I was too scared to fall asleep in case my leg went numb overnight and I wouldn't be able to move in the morning. Every time I laid still for a few minutes, I could feel my leg starting to fall asleep and I had to move it. The numbness is mainly in the front of my thigh, by the way.
Well I eventually fell asleep and I woke up around 10am, and the first thing I noticed was that I was able to move my legs so they hadn't gone to sleep in the night. But I noticed that the top of my left arm felt a bit weird, not numb, just not normal. And I quickly realised that once again, if I kept my leg still for about a minute, it would start to fall asleep, and I still doesn't feel right even when I'm moving.
It is currently Sunday morning, but I will be heading to the doctors first thing tomorrow about this, it's really worrying me. As I said, I'm only 18 and have never had any problems with this before. Please can anyone help me understand what this might be?
Thank you.
