Re: burning sensation on toes

Burning in the toes can be from several things-athlete's foot (fungal infection of skin), which causes peeling skin, odor and sometimes itching. Arthritis in toes can burn. Peripheral neuropathy is common and caused by several things, commonly diabetes. It often causes numbness as well. He should see his doctor, especially if no evidence of skin rash or arthritis is present. Many causes of peripheral neuropathy are treatable, those caused by low thyroid, vit B12 or folate deficiency, etc. If the cause is not identifiable, the symptoms can be treated to make him more comfortable.

Re: burning sensation on toes

A common complaint among people over the age of 50 years is the sensation of burning in their feet. Burning feet is a medical condition that is characterized by severe aching, stinging and burning sensation of the feet.

Remedies:
Avoid long periods of standing.
Certain cooling creams or ointments can help relieve the symptoms.
Pain relievers like aspirin or acetaminophen can also help provide relief.
Do not leave ice packs on your feet.

Re: burning sensation on toes

Does he have an issues with his back? Something can be bothering the nerves that go down his leg to his toes. If his foot swells or goes up to the ankle it also be gout. Hope he feels better!
