Tinnitus, blurred eye, throbbing legs, painful prostate, erectile dysfunction.

Hi have suffered from an endless list of symptoms for about 5 years:

List and time scale of physical symptoms

(*) means the symptoms have continued until this day unless otherwise stated.

2006
Diarrhea (for two weeks diagnosed with food poisoning. Prescribed antibiotics which I did not consume)

2007
Cysts on Testicals*
Low Libido *
Erectile Dysfunction *
Lack of feelings of pleasure
Depression
Constipation * (or just the lack of passing stool regularly)
Stress Attacks (mainly after meals)
Anxiety Attacks

2009
Stress and anxiety attacks continue
Pains in Testicals and Prostate* (caused by ejaculation, end of urination and when dehydrated)
Lower back pain
Rotten taste in mouth in the morning and white/green/orange covering on tongue*

2010
Anxiety and Stress Attacks Decrease
Fatigue, dizziness and faintness (occur after meals heavy meals in particular)
Blurred Eyesight * (seems to improve after meals/coffee)
Tinnitus *
Clicking, popping and throbbing ear drums (usually after meals or coffee)
Pains in arm sockets
Cracking and pains in knee sockets* (feels as though they could dislocate paint and cracking gets worse from now)
Ear Infections * (twice a year sores appeared inside my ears eventually they would burst and puss and blood would trickle out for 5-10 minutes)
Pains in lungs (particularly during and after smoking, pains rises up neck into head)
Random spates of headaches* (which last for up to a week at a time they feel like “hangovers”)
Hair starts falling/bad blood flow (Legs throb, dead legs, pins and needles...etc)

EARLY 2011
Diagnosed with a bacterial over growth of the lower intestine by Hayee Bu (Kings College Hospital) due to high folic acid levels secreted by bacteria.
Prescribed the antibiotic Metronidazole after a few days of feeling “fluey” the symptoms without asterix’s decrease or completely disappear
Begin taking Amitriptyline for nerve issues (tinnitus, headaches..etc)

LATE 2011
Referred Barts and London Hospital.
Prescribed vcl3 probiotics and continue Amitriptyline.

Spots appear on scalp.
rotten taste in mouth in the morning and white/green/orange covering on tongue.[/I]

I swear I have prostatitis, bad blood flow and I have been told I might have nerve problems from the bacterial overgrowth.
no one in the NHS seems to be able to find anything via tests except the diagnosis of the bacterial overgrowth. Anti biotics helped a lot but I still have problems like:
low libido.
Erectile dysfunction.
Stomach upsets and clicking and popping ears.
Pain when ejaculating or ending urination.
(to least a few).

I have a doctors appointment on Monday and am quite scared as last time I cried as the GP basically told me I have nothing wrong with me (they usually do). Instead of listening or doing any tests or examinations (no gp has examined me so far!). They just tell me I am fine. I know I am NOT.

Please help me!

Hi, sorry to hear makes me wonder if you have tested for h pylori? When there is a bacteria overgrowth many symptoms happen because our body is not in a healthy state. Most Doctors these days only treat symptoms not that root of the problem.

I have had so many blood tests they should have tested for that! I mean it all started with some sort of food poisoning and I didnt take anti biotics and I think thats why it was able to spread and become a bacterial overgrowth.
I am very upset and fed up with the GP's in england its like they dont listen at all. Just make judgements and dont do proper tests.

Is thre a very specific test for h pylori? Because I have had urinalysis and stuff..

Re: Tinnitus, blurred eye, throbbing legs, painful prostate, erectile dysfunction.

I would suggest two things. Since your symptoms started with an infectious diarrhea and you have some eye, joint, urethra and prostate symptoms, I would wonder if you have Reiters syndrome also called now reactive arthritis. it causes a myriad of seemingly unrelated symptoms and does not show up on the usual tests that are routinely ordered. The other thing that may be occurring is a low testosterone production causing the low libido, ED, depression. That can easily be tested by a blood test for serum testosterone, and if low, can be supplemented. A rheumatologist is the type Dr who would evaluate you for reactive arthritis. Sometimes just knowing what it is is enough to give you some peace of mind. It can be treated with antiinflammatories. next time you have blurred vision, an eye exam by ophthalmologist looking for iritis, inflammation of iris of eye, would help to establish the diagnosis if present. reactive arthritis has a triad of symptoms, iritis, arthritis, urethritis, and also may cause oral lesions, ulcers in mouth, low back pain, heel pain and "sausage toes", fat swollen inflamed toes that hurt. It typically occurs after a bout of infectious diarrhea, like food poisoning, or an STD. I do hope you get to the bottom of it. It is frustrating and demeaning to feel sick and be dismissed just because someone doesn't know what to look for. I've been in that situation myself many times, and it just adds mental misery to the physical illness, and deprives one of helpful treatment. be assertive at getting to the bottom of this.

Thanks you so much for your suggestions!
I have been tested for testosterone many times and everyone always says its fine but I do not trust them at all as they seem to have strange ideas of what is fine and what is not. I was tested for everything and one thing I noticed when i asked for the results is I had low iron about 45mg. My hair was falling out at the time, doctors said my iron levels were normal. I started eating more and guess what my hair stopped fall out.

One professor i saw more recently did say i had low serum testosterone, he also said i had hyper mobility syndrome and that i might have glucose intolerance. He just put me back on the pro biotics I am on which are very strong ones and they do seem to help sometimes but its more my intake of certain foods which make things worse. Like alcohol ...etc

I need to make another appointment with a doctor I just want to find one that gives a ****, which seems to be really difficult. I have seen every gp in my surgery and they pretty much all stare at me blankly when I say that I think all the symptoms are caused by some underlying rout cause. I feel as though i am having to do all the trouble shooting and guess work for them and its painful for me emotionally to feel that no one believes me and they just dismiss it. Even my mum gets all funny about it and makes ridiculous suggestions like "perhaps you haven't slept/eaten enough?"...
Its some serious **** I have to deal with the symptoms every day of my life for the last 6 years.
I really feel like going to another european country to seek health care else where as its really letting me down in the UK.

I raelly appreaciate that you guys took the trouble to give me some suggestions i hope it helps I just have to get the balls together to go and face the doctors again and feel totally alone and let down.. I hope I can find a decent one this time.

Thanks.
Dom.

Re: Tinnitus, blurred eye, throbbing legs, painful prostate, erectile dysfunction.

In the meantime, I would get copies of all the tests you have had done Many men have symptoms of low testosterone even when their levels are "normal" but low in the normal range. You can do some research on reactive arthritis and see if that syndrome seems to fit with you. if it does, I would not hesitate to suggest it as a possibility and ask for a rheumatology referral if in your system you need approval to see a specialist. I hope you find a good Dr that takes an interest and makes every effort to help you!
