Diminished signal throughout bony structures/underlying anemia.
L4-S1 marked disc space narrowing and a herniated disc to left with left sided neural foraminal narrowing. Facet joint arthrosis at this level. Edema and sclerosis of vertebral endplates at L5-S1 to left of midline.
L4-L5- Fluid and widening of left facet. Marked arthrosis in this joint. Minimal disc space narrowing and some loss of normal signal intensity to the intervertebral disc at L4-L5 without disc herniation
Remaining lumbar lvels appear normal. There is a small osteophyte encroaching minimally upon the right ventral epidural spacee T12 arising from the inferior endplate.

Impression- 1.widening and fluid and marked arthrosis in the left facet of L4-L5.
2. Disc space narrowing L5-S1 with endplate edema, sclerosis and oseophyte formations with chronic disc and oseophytic encroachment upon the left neural foramen. Protursionof the intervertebral disc to the left at L5-S1.

This mri was ordered because severe pain when walking or standing longer than 10 min. at a time and, the pain seems to be in my hips more when walking than my back but the doctor only ordered a lower lumbar. Any feed back would be helpful as to if I need to press for a hip mri. I am supposed to have an injection(ESI) before my followup
