Pain in Upper Thighs when waking

I get a terrible aching pain in both of my upper thighs when I start to wake in the morning. It is in both thighs and I believe it might be waking me out of my sleep. When I roll over or stretch it really is painful. I have had this for months now. As soon as I get up and start moving around it goes away. I do lots of stretching exercises during the day and also ride a stationary bike for 45 minutes every day. I am 60.
Do you have any thoughts on what causes this and what, if anything, I can do to relieve it without taking pain medication.

Thanks - Kylla
