| Re: Possible Heart Attach Symptoms?
I spent two days in the hospital two weeks ago. The symptoms that brought me into the hospital were heart palpitations, the desire to take in deep breaths, tiredness and a tightening in the upper left chest area. I had pressure and heaviness on my chest and a deep achy feeling, but no real stabbing pain. At the hospital they did an EKG and sent me into their Cardiology ICU Unit. The doc came in and told me that they saw a tiny problem with the EKG, "nothing to really worry about," but that they wanted for me to stay the night to have a heart stress test done in the morning. I did the intravenous heart stress test, which also showed up positive for a heart problem. I was admitted into the hospital and an Angiogram was performed, which showed no blockages in any arteries. So, I was then basically kicked out of the hospital and told to see a pulmonary doctor. I know in my heart, (no pun intended), that the issue is in my heart. I was diagnosed about a year ago with Mitral Valve Prolapse which gave me very similar symptoms as I was having when I went into the hospital. I told the docs that I had been diagnosed with MVP, but they did not investigate this any further. I did see a pulmonary doctor once and he gave me an inhaler to try, which made me feel sick so I stopped taking it. I didn't want to use a steroid inhaler every day, twice a day, and feel sick from it when the only time I had the desire to take in deep breaths was when I was having one of the attacks! So, I won't be going back to see this doctor. I plan on making an appointment to see a Cardiologist this coming week. Since leaving the hospital I had another attack about a week ago that lasted about 6 hours, and just today I had another attack, (this time I had actual stabbing pains in my chest that went down my left shoulder and arm), that lasted for about 4 hours. Has anyone else had these symtoms? Was it MVP? Thanks and God bless you all...Valerie.
