I have an upcoming 12-hour flight (from Tokyo to Atlanta) and I suffer from mild-severe flight panic and I was wondering if anybody have had an experience with xanax on such a long flight. I have 4.5mg of xanax divided in 0.5 mg pills. I was wondering if I should take them all at once or spread them, let's say, 1mg every 3 hours?
Please, let me know your experiences, advices and anything you can comfort me with (I suffer from severe flight panic and I just want to relax and forget about the panic and try to sleep)
Od course you want to relax and be able to enjoy your trip. :-) I hope you have a wonderful time.
However, please, do NOT take all that Xanax at once!! You will be in a stupor, or worse, if you do.
Xanax is a powerful drug. Even at .5mg, it has a great potency. I really suggest you speak with your doctor or pharmacist about the proper dosage. Personally, I would not take more than one tablet at a time, spaced 6 hours apart. There was a time in my life that I was taking .5 Xanax regularly. It never really stopped doing its job as a potent anxiety relief. It is not a drug to casually dose ourselves with at all.
Wishing you well, wishing you a good trip, and hoping you will be cautious in your use of the Xanax.

I was able to get this 4.5mg because I have never taken xanax on a plane before (or never had anywhere) so I was not sure how much is enough.
But after reviewing several feedbacks from the internet and friends' experiences, I think the best way is to take, at first, the .5mg dose before take-off (I believe xanax hits in 30-60 minutes) and then if I feel anxious/panic again, I could easily redose another .5mg. I dont want to be too groggy or have somebody wake me up by force or be like a zombie and I believe .5mg won't do that at all.
The reason is, after 3.5 hours of my 12-hour flight, I have another flight to South America (this is 6-hour flight), so I also can have some xanax for the last leg of my flight on the 6-hour flight.
Thanks a lot for your comment and if you have any questions, please, let me know.
