How do you get rid of lice? - General Health Message Board

My grandson has gotten lice and my daughter has used RID twice now with no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions? Are there any non-chemical ways to get rid of these nightmares?

an email was sent to me with different health/beauty techniques to try at home and lice was one of them. I read that mayonnaise will kill lice and also condition your hair. Give it a try and tell me if this actually works.

I have had head lice when I went to a really bad school. My grandma would make me lean over the tub with a wash cloth on my face and she would slowly and gently poor gasoline over my head. Yes I know, VERY dangerous and very scary, but it worked. I would sit for 15 minutes, after the time was up I would rise for about 5 then wash my hair and the lice was gone. I know its crazy and uncommon but I never got it again.

A coworker of mine told me that she bought "Tea Tree Oil" and added some of it to their regular shampoo. Lice don't like this oil, so it worked for them.
Her son kept getting it from school.
