Major hair loss on top of head and I'm only 21. - Hair Loss / Alopecia Message Board

Hey guys. I just recently turned 21 and my head has more bald spots than my 50 year old father. It is thinning so badly, it's just ridiculous. It seems like it has been falling out the last few years maybe.. but it is finally starting to show and you can see the top of my scalp, it's so embarrassing. I knew the day was going to come at an early age once it started to fall out, and now it's here and it sucks. I give it a few more months and I'll probably be able to get some spit shines on the top of my head. I grow hair rapidly on my face as well as the hair on my head on the sides and the back, so I don't get why at this young age the male pattern baldness has all ready struck me? Does anyone have a similar problem or had a similar problem at such a young age? What steps can be taken to treat this, if any? I heard of products such as Avucore, etc., but it's costly and I am very skeptical that it'd work. Thanks.

my boyfriend has a very similar problem to yours. he is 19 and is losing hair very rapidly, we have been trying to come up with different things to try--our first resort has been thickening shampoos--we're still waiting on results from that--nothing noticeable yet--sorry I can't give you any advice though!

Yeah, thickening shampoos have been useless for me.

Thickening shampoos will do nothing to battle hairloss. They're a nice aid but do nothing on their own. You need to search and do research on the proven treatments (Minoxidil, Finasteride) or look towards natural alternatives (Revivogen, Spiro, etc.).

try saw palmetto. I talked to a hair restoration doctor and he said that they call it "nature's propecia" it won't regrow hair, but halts hair loss. If you want and can afford it, you can get medical hair restoration. That works, but is pretty expensive.
