My wife suffers from CFS and recently she has been worrying about the amount of hair that comes off in her hands when washing her hair. Is this typical for someone suffering from CFS?
Read up on CFS but have not come across this as a sympton.
I have not heard of it happening with chronic fatigue. Obviously that does not mean it does not happen. What are all of her symptoms? When she was diagnosed did the doctors do an elimination process with bloodwork and specialist to eliminate other disorders? Depending on other symptoms and test hair loss could be indicative of another illness such as lupus.
I'm not aware of hair loss being associated with CFS. I was diagnosed 20 years ago and kept a thick head of hair until menopause last year. For many months, I was shocked by the amount of hair I was shedding. Fortunately, the hair loss stopped. And, although my hair is now noticeably thinner to me, it isn't to others.
Thanks for the replies.
She has had several blood tests and has a thyroid problem, she also has went through the menopause.
Hopefully she doesn't have lupus.
She's also had a lot of stress in the last few years, mainly due to our daughter's health problems, she has TTP( can't get this under control) and kidney problems.
Hair loss is also a symptom of thyroid problems. I would recommend them testing her thyroid levels again if she is already diagnosed with that. She may need to up her medication. Good luck!
