Dandruff that won't go away - Hair Problems Message Board

I have tried every product in the stores, from products containing Pyrithione Zinc to Coal Tar to Salicylic Acid. My dandruff flakes will not go away!

I do not use any styling products. Is there any natural remedies? Help, please!

It may not be dandruff- it could be sebhorreic dermatitis- my daughter has it- it looks a lot like dandruff, but not. Have you tried Tea Tree Oil? This seems to help my daughter- the dandruff shampoos made it worse.

Take a look at your scalp -- is it dry? red? or oily? You may have dermatitis like Maak said or possibly psoriasis, which I found out I had last winter when my "dandruff" wouldn't go away w/ regular shampoos. You may want your doctor to take a look at it, I'm sure he/she could tell you what you have.
Tea Tree oil does work for some scalp conditions at least temporarily, so you can try some of that!

My scalp is not oily or red, however it does seem a bit dry. I have dry skin as well as something called keratosis pilaris on my arms.

Try pouring some Listerine over your head after you finish washing and rinsing you hair in the shower. Gently rub it into your scalp and let it sit for a minute, then rinse it out. That works for me!
