Getting bald - need help!!!

I'm 22 years old male, and I think I'm getting bald.
My forehead is shaping M - which is noticable if I move hair upward, and the size of the forehead is increasing (currently, my four fingers, except the thumb, can fit the forehead - up from eyebrows). It looks like hair on top of the head is thinning.

I used to have small forehead and lots of hair. I still have tones of hair on body, especially on my legs (omg ).

My father is bald, and uncles (father's side) are all bald, too. There is no baldheaded person in mother's side.

Now, I'd like to do everything I can do to minimize the loss. Please recommend me good shampoos and conditioners that can help or does not trigger hair-loss at least.

Also, I read that there are some topical solutions that are approved by FDA, one of which is minoxidil. Is it something I can get over-the-counter or prescription-needed?

Lastly, I used to shampoo with "Head and Shoulders," the shampoo that gets rid of dandruff, for over 2 years (but sometimes with typical shampoo like Pantene, and so on). I wonder if that could have made my hair worse.

Thank you for reading.

Re: Getting bald - need help!!!

I always had VERY thick hair, but a few years ago, it started to get thinner on top. I FINALLY went to the Dermatologist. She tested my thyroid(was fine) so she told me to buy Rogaine. I did and after a few weeks I had brand new hair. Now I can see that I have several lengths of new hair!!! It is THICK again!!!! Rogaine causes your oldest hair to shed at first, so that makes way for new hair. The shedding always scares people. BUT, if you hang in there (if that is what your doc says will help) it will block the chem. that causes the hair to get thinner and fall out and not return.

I have had great success with Rogaine for Women. MANY men and women both have this happen. It takes some time, but I LOVE the Rogaine. It used to be prescription, now you just buy it at the store. It is not cheap, but it is worth it to me. You have to keep using it. Go see a doctor and ask first. Good Luck.

If your scalp is itchy you might have the same problem I have. I had a bald spot for 25 years. I discovered a hairdresser who specialized in thinning hair. My problem is DEMODEX FOLLICULORUM which is a parasite that lives off your sebum and whose excrements clog your pores which in turn kills the hair follicle. I have been using Nioxin products for a year and a half and the results are amazing. You should get it checked out.
