Have a receding hair line.... Help!

I'm 25 and was wondering if it would be too early to look into possible treatment options?

It's not anything major **yet** but was curious about if anyone had luck with any particular treatment option.. preferably something you don't need a prescription for (as I'm kinda low on funds right now) Just think it might be in my best interest to attack the problem BEFORE it gets bad.

Thanks guys!

Edit: For the record my dad still has a full head of hair (my late grandfather on my father's side did not and my living grandfather also has very little) Those things taken into account... are the main reason I want to attack it as early as possible. Whether it works might be a different story, but figure I could then at least say that I tried.

Edit: Edit: I've always had a bit of a high hair line... perhaps it's just something I need to deal with?!? Hmm anyway still wanting to try something that others have had success with preferably again as inexpensive as possible.

Re: Have a receding hair line....

could be just a normal "mature" hairline. A lot of guys start to recede a little and then stop. If you have no history of hairloss in your family and you're not losing any hair or thinning I wouldn't wrry about it too much. Also, most treatments aren't intended for use on the hairline, more the crown, although they do help.

Re: Have a receding hair line....

Well again my father has a full head of hair...

neither one of my grandparents (both the living and the non living one) have a full head or really close to it.

I've ALWAYS had a high hair line even when I was alot younger. Maybe it's just the way my hair grows, don't know.

So would something like rogaine or the propecia be unlikely to help with a problem like mine?

My main concern is that I like to spike my hair and give it a sort of 'unkempt' look. I get compliments when I do so, but at the same time this is when my high hairline is so noticable and it's making myself as an already self conscious person, even more so.

If there was something...anything out there with the potiential to make my hairline lower then that would be a plus. Even if it's just that potiential and not guranteed, I would be more than willing to try it.

Re: Have a receding hair line....

most treatments aren't inteded for frontal/temporal use. however, many of these treatments do help with growth along the hairline. take rogaine for instance. the box clearly states that it is not intended for use in the front. however, many users have claimed great frontal results with rogaine. so in essence, yes something like propecia or rogaine would help with you but im not sure if you would want to jump into either one of those two treatments considering the circumstances. rogaine must be applied twice daily for seemingly the rest of your life and propecia is a hit on the wallet and runs the risk of side effects. I would wait on those treatments until you were really suffering from hairloss. keep in mind, however, that the hardest place to recover lost hair would be in the front. in your case, I don't think you're in trouble. If I were you and it was bothering me so much, I would just grow my hair a little longer, not spike it up, and cover it up.

Re: Have a receding hair line....

Hairlines are inherited through Mother's side of the family. It has nothing to do with your father's head of hair.
