Anyone know of any supplements to prevent hairloss? - Hair Problems Message Board

My boyfriend is 21 and he's starting to get a receding hair line. I've given him my Biotin to take, it's like 1000 mcgs or something (but it's old and mgiht not be as potent). what can he do to slow down the hair loss or prevent it from going further?

Have any products worked for any of you? Rogaine (to prevent any more loss) or any supplements or any product at all? Please help, you always hear about how to reverse it, but has anyone actually succeeded in preventing it a little?

I dont think hair products would work he could get plugs or could shaved his head.

I was on the same boat as your v/f but tell him not to worry.
I am on a med called "propecica" (spelling??).
For me: first month it slowed down my hair loss at a pretty rapid rate.
2nd month is stopped my hair falling out all togeather! my mates couldnt belive there eyes my hair was soooo stong! they couldnt even pull it out! on my 3rd month i noticed little tiny hairs growing back ***** was amazing for me and i was over the moon.
Now it will stop it from falling out thats for sure but im one of the lucky 5% or that it help grow back, i also live in australia so the name might be differnt over there

Propecia and rogaine are only proven meds to stop balding and regrow hair. There have been studies on saw palmetto, but for most people it doesnt work. You can take grape seed extract and other stuff to make it grow faster, but it doesnt actually regrow hair. I dunno if this is allowed, but check out [url]www.minoxidil.com[/url] Dr Lee is very reputable. Ask around about his stuff.
