Extremely dry hair problem - Hair Problems Message Board

I'm a guy with 5 and 1/2 inches of hair. Every time I shower my hair after it dries gets really dry and when I comb it it flakes. I was on Accutane so maybe that caused this problem. What is the BEST shampoo/conditioner/anything to make dry hair really moisturized and not flakey?

Not sure of any specific brands besides targeting one's which specifically state for dry itch scalps etc... Selsum Blue I think is one I have heard that works though. I know mixing Jojoba oil either into your scalp when you go to bed (jojoba isn't greasy like other oils and sinks in like lotion) or blending some w/ your condtioner can help. Remember: the flakes aren't your hair, it's your dry scalp so you need to treat your scalp and in doing so will only make your hair better.

Any anti-dandriff shampoo works fine. I have very dry scalp, and it flakes as well. But when i got ant-dandriff shampoo, it healed.

Head & Shoulders does a shampoo that moisturizes your hair along with treating the dandruff. The whole Head & Shoulders line is meant to be really good.

Like Veggi said, it's your scalp that is flaking..not your hair. Your scalp is the area that needs to be treated.

My husband has dandruff, and I'm always telling him to use conditioner. When he does, he notices less flaking. Biolage Conditioning Balm is a great one, you can get it at salons for about $20. BTW, I've never been on it, but I've read that Accutane causes hair loss.
