Highlites turned hair bright pink - Hair Problems Message Board

I am a single dad of a teenage daughter. I have no idea how to help with this
problem.

My daughter high lighter her previously beautiful blonde hair and it turned an obnoxious color of pink. She panicked and repeated the process several times in the same day trying to lighten it. It is now Very hot pink and falling out. She will not leave her room. We have called several hair-fixing-up places and they will not even try to help.

Can anyone help?

Also is there any way to tell if a hair fixing person will know what they are doing (ie certifications etc.) I am reading descriptions of things going from bad to worse even at the salons.

What had she used on her hair (colour?) long before she did the lightener? (exactly)

What lightener did she use on her hair?
(exactly)
It's physically impossible for hair to turn a bright pink unless she used something on her hair previously.

As well...what shampoo is she using, what styling products..etc is she using.

More questions..but that could lead to some answers.

I have my hair colored professionally and when I want red...for the first few days it appears pink especially on my blonder hair. After a few washes it goes to the color it's suppose to be. Do not apply any more color to her hair if it is falling out b/c it will just continue to be damaged more and more! Try conditioning it and getting some of the oils back in! GOOD LUCK...LIVE AND LEARN!

First of all, I think it's awful that salons are refusing to help you... hello, isn't that part of their job description?! Geez. Anyways... I'm unclear on how highlights could have turned pink, did she have dye in her hair underneath those highlights previously? What colour? What did she use to highlight with? The best advice I can give is to NOT apply anything else until you see a professional... someone will help her. If you can drag her out of the house, walking in to a salon and showing them could maybe get you some answers.
