Unfortunatelly, during the year of 2002 I noticed a small patch of hair missing from the back of my head. I was later diagnosed with dissecting cellulitis by one doctor. It's a rare disorder in which hair follicles retain fluid, diallate and then rupture, causing the hair to fall out. Inflammation is a secondary side affect as bacteria begin feeding on the resulting fluid release of the ruptured follicle. I went for a second opinion on the matter to an actual dermatologist and he also stated that this was indeed dissecting cellulitis. And much like the first doctor who told me I would have this for the rest of my life, the dermatologist also insisted the same thing. Being that I was 18 at the time and starting college in a few months of the diagnosis, this was not something I wanted to hear. It can't really be helped now that I'm 21 but I've resorted to taking several types of medicine along with steroid injection directly into the areas in the past. For the moment, I'm occassionally taking Cefuroxime whenever there is a slight flair up. It hasn't been nowhere near as bad as it was in 03'. However, this is a chronic syndrome, meaning it reoccurs at random. If there are others on this board (and I'm sure there are) that suffer from the same condition, please please offer up any advice on the matter. I'm not looking to be humored but I'd enjoy some other options. I currently have a full head of hair, but who knows how long that will last. I do know about scalp transplants but hopefully it never gets that severe, but I don't enjoy having this on my mind everyday for the rest of my life so I may opt for it when I have the money and have done the research. Also, sorry if this is in the wrong section but I tried to post in the skalp, hair and nails section but for some reason I'm not allowed. Thanks in advance for all advice offered and I look forward to an educational experience on these boards.
