fine hair, can I make it thicker - Hair Problems Message Board

Hi I'm a 17 year old male and have had very fine hair my whole life. Right now I'm trying to grow it out, however, it is just too thin. My mom is asian so I think I got my thin hair from her. My hair is a little bit curly when it gets longer, and that's the only thin that gives it body.

When I pull my hair back like a pony tail, you can actually see the scalp in many places. My hair is not thinning it's just thin.

Is there ANYTHING I can do to make the actual hairs thicker? Is there any suggestions. I read something about VEGF but that's still in testing. Is there any updates on that. Once my hair starts to thin, it will be horrible.

also when I shampoo my hair it is flat for about 2 days. Does this happen to others or is it because of my thin hair?

I Am A Girl, But With Fine Hair And I Use A Volumizing Shampoo And
Also A Volumizer Afterwards And Then Blowdry It In. It Amplifies
The Hair to look thicker and lifts it from the scalp.

It sounds as if you are using the wrong shampoo for your hair. Use a shampoo for fine, thin hair. There are also products such as volumizers, mousse, hair thickening products that will make your hair feel and appear thicker. What they do is swell the hair. Gels will pull the hair together, so you should probably stay away from those. Also, blow dry your hair upside down, working from the root area and out, to maximize volume.
Salons, and beauty supply stores can give you some great products to choose from. You may also benefit from using a very good scalp cleansing/stimulating shampoo, as men tend to not manipulate the scalp very well, and it's important to rinse well. No pun intended, but men tend to have more oil on their scalp, and if you do not cleanse properly you clog up the hair follicles, therefore the hair cannot grow or breathe, and this can eventually lead to hair loss.
