Ok.
I'm 16 and i usually have my hair 1-3 inch long. ( rarely 3 though, mostly always around 2 or bit less ). I have really wavy and strong hair, and because of that, everything I try NEVER HOLDS! I tried wax, spray, gel. I tried those three mixed with hair blower. I tried those three with and without showering first. I feel like I tried all and am doing something wrong... I just want to lift it up in the front in a cool way ( not like church-boy old fashioned -_- ) and alright a bit lifted in the back ( kind of messy ). I would also like it if it could look kind of shiny ( humid/wet )... ok that doesn't matter, but as long as the spikes and stuff KEEP their shape. Because right now, whatever I do with my hair, in an hour tops, it's completely dry, all spikes and shapes dry out and dissapear and everything lifted goes down and ... ugh. Horrible.

So now I know this may sound kind of stupid. But please oh please give me advice! All the details you can put in, {removed} on different hair styles, easy ones, anything. Write everything as if I knew NOTHING of hairstyling! T_T

P.S.: Think I should use a flat iron but dont know what kind I should get. and its kind of tough with the one i have right now because it's so big ( made for longer women hair? )

dstalker, you will definitely benefit from a straight iron. Beware though that a really good straight iron will cost you around $100 plus. They come in all sizes, so you can find one to suit your hair length. It needs to be a totally flat iron with no ridges.
I've found that inexpensive irons just don't cut it. Your hairstylist can give you some really good suggestions on brand name irons and the products to use with it. My personal favorite is Farouk and their products. You can find them at Davidson Beauty Supply. It is expensive, but trust me, your hair will stay where you want it.

One more suggestion. Have your hairdresser to really thin out your hair on the top, and do some point cutting on the ends. If you go to a barber, you need to try out a salon instead. Barbers do not do this type of cutting. This will texturize the hair and help with easier styling.
