my hairstylist is my sister-in-law, but lately the marriage between her and my brother has been really bad so now she wont come over to do my hair.
my hair is naturally light golden blonde and during the winter months i like to go darker. she has colored my hair in the winter the last few years, and since she works in a salon she knows how to deal with such light hair. she's done my hair a darker blonde with medium golden brown lowlights. looked very nice, although it always washed out within a few months. i dont mind that it washes out, because then i dont have to worry about new growth.
anyways, now that she wont do my hair for this winter, and i CANNOT afford to go to a salon, i've been thinking about coloring my hair at home. i have tried it before, doing dark blonde, but it always turned out purple-ish. thats what i get for going with an ash color. this year, i was thinking about doing a medium brown, or even a darker brown.
would this be ok to do at home? if i get a color that is not ash, will it bring out the slight red tints in my hair? i really dont want red hair! what is the best brand to buy? any extra tips i should know about? going from light blonde to brown is a big step!
