23 years old, male, and my hairline is starting to recede in the corners....

I'm 23 years old, 24 in less than two months. I am noticing that my hairline is starting to recede....atleast in the corner/side areas (hopefully you know what area I am referring to).

I've always had a full head of hair. Everytime I get it cut the barber comments on how thick and nice it is. I would always joke that I hope it stays that way. To which they always reply that that won't be a problem. My dad is in his mid 50's, and has a full, thick head of hair. Maybe a year or so ago I noticed I wasn't really liking the way my hairline was. My right side, I guess near the temples (not sure if that is the correct name for that area I am trying to describe) looked to be receding. I've been under a good amount of stress for the past 8 months or so. And the past 2 months I've been under an EXTREME amount of stress. This past month or so I have REALLY noticed my hairline, especially on my right side, is starting to go back further. I am freaking out about this. Some consider me a "pretty boy", lol, and I definitely care about my appearance, so of course I am worried about my hair problem. My self esteem is starting to get worse.....my hairstyle is a big part of my appearance.

Is the stress possibly the cause? Also, I don't eat that healthy.....to be honest, I don't eat that much at all. So I am obviously lacking the proper nurishment. I'm sure that doesn't help my cause either.

Any help is appreciated. This is VERY imnportant to me so I want to do whatever it takes to fix and correct this problem. Is having some of my hair transplanted to the front an option for me? I'd love to have a new hairline.....the corners filled in with hair to give me a new hairline. Any idea on the cost for that procedure?

Thank you.

Re: 23 years old, male, and my hairline is starting to recede in the corners....

OMG we sound like twins except i'm 35.
I always had a full set of hair.
Then last June I was going through alot of stress and having anger attacks.
The same thing happened to me.
I started to lose hair in the front side of the hair.
Its definitely from these anger attacks and Stress.
The hair loss only started since i was going through all this stress.
Even the woman who gives my haircut.
She noticed the loss off hair and thinning on the front side of the hair. .
I'm gonna see a therapist this week to help with the stress.
I'm also looking around to see if there's a solution.
They say Rogaine is not for frontal baldness or the thinning of the front hair.

I started to really get depressed by saying, if I didn't put myself through all this stress and anger. I wouldn't have lost the front hair.
But you cant think like that.
You just got to deal with what you have now and make the best of it.
I would tell you, before you lose any more hair in the front.
You got to see someone to help with the stress.
I'm gonna look around online if there's anything to help with the thinning of front hair.

Re: 23 years old, male, and my hairline is starting to recede in the corners....

Yeah, I'm guessing the stress is definitely not helping us out here. Although as of the past few weeks I have been less stressed out. I'm still concerned that my hair will continue to recede though. I have no desire to use Rogaine because I hear you have to use it for the rest of your life. I'd rather just take the plunge and get the transplant surgery done.

Thanks for your post and I wish you the best of luck in your fight against your stress.

Re: 23 years old, male, and my hairline is starting to recede in the corners....

Hold up, before you get this hair transplant.
There are things you can take.
{REMOVED}

There are lots of good products out there.
Trust me, I'v heard disaster stories about hair transplants.
That should be your last option.
One guy who was balding used a combination of minoxidil which is the main product in Rogaine.
Rogaine uses 5% of minoxidil.
There are other lotions for the hair that use 12.5% and 15% of minoxidil.
This is called XANDROX12.5 an XANDROX15
The guy told me, you use the minoxidil with Retin A.
Apparently Retin A used with minoxidil really grows hair in the front.

Also, there's a product called Propecia. This is a pill you take.
Propecia works with your natural body chemistry to block the production of a particular hormone which leads to hair loss. This hormone is called DHT, and, in many men, DHT causes the hair follicles to shrink. Propecia blocks the production of 60-70% of the hormone DHT which causes a cessation of hair loss in almost all men and regrowth in most.

Now Propecial is expensive, but there are generic versions of Propecia.
Its basically the same thing as Propecia just under another name.
The generic brand of propecia sells 90 pills for 59 dollars.

There are other products you can take.

Re: 23 years old, male, and my hairline is starting to recede in the corners....

Is Propecia a pill you take one time a day or two? These are things you have to use every day for the rest of your life, correct? If so, that is why I would rather not use them.

Is Propecia a perscription? What about the other products you mentioned? Any over the counter things I can use?

Thanks Dan.
