Boyfriends spots on scalp - Hair Problems Message Board

Hiya all, my boyfriend has got short hair and spikes it up using gel (uses various types). Recently he has been getting quite large spots on his scalp, they are red and sometimes contain white puss, he says they are painful.

Anyone know why he gets them, and if so what he can do to get rid of them?

The gel could be causing acne on his scalp...or maybe his shampoo is to blame...the pus is the give-awy...acne is sometimes pus-filled...it's a clogged pore than causes the pus. He could try a dandruff shampoo to dry up the pus and "clean" off the scalp, and maybe back of the gel for a while...if all else fails, go see a dermatologist who can prescribe something. It's nothing to worry about though and it's better to have the acne on his scalp than all over his face or on his back.

Rite, so you think its acne on his scalp I didnt know u cud get acne on the scalp

Yeh I did suggest to him that it may be his gel, so he is not going to use it and see if that stops the spots.
