My Boyfriends Grey Hair?! - Hair Problems Message Board

Hiya all, my botfriend is aged 24 and has had partielly grey hair since his teens, they aren't all grey but Ide say 50% grey they are mainly noticable from the top.
Is it a myth that if he dye's them black they will grow back even more grey? And if he was to dye them should he get them dyed from the hairdressers (so his scalp doesn't go black) or should he just use a home dyeing kit?

Any advice appreciated

Grey hair on a fellow makes them look distinguished, grey hair on women make them look old!!LOL!! Actually, having grey hair will add money in his pocket depending on his profession. Had a friend who was a doctor and he said grey hair was like money in the bank or something like that. Of course, when any of us get older, like in our 50's we need to have color on our hair to look younger since no one wants to hire the 50 and over crowd.

Only problem with coloring his hair, the die over time could cause him to go bald. I had to stop coloring my hair 1 1/2 years ago due to going bald from hair coloring. My hair is gradually growing back, not as thick as original.

It is a pain to keep coloring your hair and expensive too.

My previous partner slowly started to go grey at a very young age too. It wasn't ever a problem for me and as his hair was light brown it all kind of blended in.

As for the grey, everything you hear are myths. No matter what you do, once a hair folicle starts producing grey hair, there is no way of reversing it.

A couple of guys i work with are in their 40's and they dye their hair black and it looks so obvious and then they get the regrowth. I'd much rather it be left natural, but that's only my personal opinion. Long term dying can cause side effects so i'd be careful there too. Better to have grey than to lose it completely.

Thanks for yourcomments, his grey hair doesn't really bother us, I love him regardless.
As for dyeing it after reading the comments may lead to more bad then good. And as for him only being in his 20's the thought of being bald isn't something were going to chance!
