How often should I shampoo my hair?

i've heard that strong detergents in shampoos can irritate and damage hair.
i guess it's better not to wash my hair too often,
but how often should i shampoo my hair?
i think it's twice a week or so. what do u think?

Re: How often should I shampoo my hair?

It depends on your type of hair. I only shampoo about once or twice a week because my hair is very dry and fine. It works out good for me.

Re: How often should I shampoo my hair?

I wash my hair every day. I have really thick hair so I have to wash it everyday. My hair never dries out.

Re: How often should I shampoo my hair?

Don't use a harsh shampoo...use one that's mild with a proper conditioner and maybe once every few weeks deep conditioning.

I've washed my hair daily for over 40 years...I use Grund Tiger Moisturising shampoo and then Tiger Moisture reconstructor leave-in conditioner.

Once in a while I use just the reconstructor leave-in or the Tiger Mask.

Awesome line...but there are many awesome lines available...trial and error. Try to avoid pantene or herbal essence, etc. Dove is good I hear, although I've never tried it.

Re: How often should I shampoo my hair?

I was wondering what is bad about Pantene. I have tried Dove and I didn't care for it. My hair requires lots of conditioner! I shampoo about 2ce/3 times per week.

Re: How often should I shampoo my hair?

I have thick, curly hair, so I shampoo every day. Pantene has a wax in it that coats your hair and makes it appera more smooth and silky. It will build up quickly. Your hair is not living, so you cannot change it's state of "health" for the better. All you can do is do more damage, or prevent more damage. I find the cleaner my hair is, the better it looks.

If you color or perm your hair, you would not want to use Pantene as your chemicals will not penetrate your hair as effectively if it has all the junk to penetrate through first.

Does that make sense?

Re: How often should I shampoo my hair?

My daughter had dry hair and the dermatologist told her to shampoo her hair every day. Daily shampooing stimulated the oil glands.

Use a mild shampoo and a good conditioner, one that does not weight down the hair. Loreal Feria conditioner is good (use small amount each time). This conditioner is available at Sally's Beauty Supply. I heard recently that Loreal professional products will now be sold by other stores, the something or other had expired and Sally's will no longer be the exclusive store to carry it. Infusion 23 shampoo is a good moisturizing one.
