Pills to slow hair down? - Hair Problems Message Board

Does any one know of any pills that are designed to slow the rate of body hair regrowth? Besides birth control, spironolactone and saw palmetto?

I take the second one, I tried the first one and it didn't help, I use saw palmetto but I'm not sure it's made any difference.

Have you been diagnosed with a condition known to cause the unwanted hair? Have you been tested for insulin resistance? If you are insulin resistant, the medication helps with the hair growth.

Yes, I have PCOS, that's why I'm taking the Spironolactone for over two years now.

i am older then the other members that are writing about excessive facal hair. I am 74 years old. I getting very severe facial hair about a year ago. ever month it gets more severe. My DR. sent me to a endocrinologist twice.he did blood tests and he said my hormone levels was normal. I have hair under lip,cheeks,side burns,very course white hairs on chin and my neck.I had facial waxing done and 3 days later most of the hair is back. The tech in salon that did my waxing said ,when I Had asked her that she does not have any other client with such severe facial hair problem.The hair is white so I can not use laser treatment. I tried using vaniqa,but so far it has not helped me. I Went to see my Dr. this week with the hair grown in to let him see how severe it is.He is sending me to a new endicrinologist.Hope I find some help,

It is biologically impossible for hair that has been properly waxed to grow back in 3 days. Either the hair broke during the waxing, rather than coming out with the roots intact, or hair that had been previously dormant was coming through.

Vaniqa doesn't help coarse hair.

Only electrolysis can permanently remove white hairs. Also, an electrologist is more experienced with knowing what is a normal amount of hair for different age groups. At 74, a hormone imbalance, other than diabetes, insulin resistance, or hypothyroism, isn't likely. Tumors, possibly.
