Hair Growth

Is there a way to reduce hairgrowth without taking pills or whatever?
I've heard that doctors can prescribe that kind of stuff, but I figure if you take a perscription to reduce hairgrowth on certain parts of the body, that would probably reduce hairgrowth on the head as well. I'm actually working on growing my hair out even longer, so I don't want something that's going to slow it down.
