Is this normal for a 17 year old teenager?

I always got a lots of dandruff on my head and my head is always very itchy i have try to use some different types of shampoo but none of them works. I also have been told that my skin is very oily and started from last month, my hair start to drop. Everytime when i pull my hair very softly i will at least have 1 on my hand and there is always some pimple(not sure) on my head also which make me even more itchy.

The brand of shampoo that i have try to use,

Clear
Head & Shoulder
Pantene (currently using it now)
SunSilk

Edit : By the way, maybe you guys can recommend me some shampoo that i can try and i forget to add that i don't really have red spot on my head.

Pantene is generally advised against by people on this board. I use Nizoral and that seems to control dandruff as well as thicken hair. You might want to look up information on candidas.

Re: Is this normal for a 17 year old teenager?

Hi. I have a daughter and husband who have problems with dandruff/psoriasis. They use a tar shampoo, like T-Gel. Most stores also carry their own brand, which we use, and works just as well. The darker the shampoo the better.
Good luck.

Re: Is this normal for a 17 year old teenager?

Hi,
My children have had build-up on their scalps on and off for years. My husband recently read an article about biotin (a B vitamin) and cradle cap (what you call build-up on babies or children). I have been supplementing my daughter with biotin and have noticed that it has cleared up within a few weeks. Perhaps it would also be helpful for you.

Re: Is this normal for a 17 year old teenager?

My husband has some skin/scalp condition (his mother has it also). Head and Shoulders won't work for his condition, Nizoral seems to be the product that works (it is expensive). It has a different active ingredient than H&S. Washing a couple times a week with Nizoral when it flares up seems to get it back under control. Pantene and Sunsilk have a lot of fragrance. I find Sunsilk to be a bit drying.

As far a loosing some hair, hair is always turning over. I have longer hair and put my fingers through it constantly and always expect to have one in my hand when I do so. That is not unusual.

Some tips: When you wash your hair don't scratch your scalp, it's tempting but resist it. Massage your scalp with your finger tips. Be sure to rinse all the shampoo and conditioner out as that can irritate your scalp. I'd look for a conditioner that has the least amount of fragrance. If you don't really have "red spots" then maybe just some Johnson's baby shampoo may be all your scalp needs.
