Coarse Strands

I have naturally straight hair, but still use hair straighteners every once in a while. I don't really use any products on my hair unless I really need to do something. For about the past year or so I keep finding random coarse/ extremely curly hair strands all around my head. I normally wouldn't be bothered with it, but they're getting kind of annoying. Anyone know what causes this???
