Hello - I signed up for this forum because I'm hoping someone else will have had this same or similar issue...or someone knows what this may mean. I am a 55 year old man & I had noticed quite some time ago that my underarm hair was disappearing rapidly. For several years now I hadn't even looked at my underarms because I was afraid all my underarm hair would be gone....you know the old saying..."out of sight, out of mind".
I decided I better take a look earlier today and I found that my underarm hair was completely & totally gone! The hair on my head is very full and grows very fast....it isn't even thinning. And my facial hair is fine....a few days without shaving and a beard will have started growing. It is just my underarm hair.
I sure would appreciate it if anybody could shed some light on this situation for me. Comments and replies ASAP please. Thanks
It's common for men and women to lose body hair as we age. Body hair is nourished by androgens flowing in your blood supply. As you age, your hormone levels drop and your blood doesn't circulate like it once did. The combination of the two "starve" the hair follicles that are dependent on hormones for nourishment.
