Any One Likes or Uses Epicare

I'm thinking about buying the little device for my upper lip which I've never waxed or shaved but it is more noticable now and I'm ready to get rid of it but afraid I will do something I will regret becuase of making it worse. I would like your opinions on the epicare.

Re: Any One Likes or Uses Epicare

This device is the same as tweezing, waxing, or threading. It's ripping the hairs out by their roots.

Upper lip hair in women is vulnerable to male hormones. (Actually, all facial hairs, except the brows are stimulated by male hormones.) Hormones fertilize hair. When a hair is forcibly ripped away from the follicle, blood rushes in to repair the follicle. All women have male hormones in our blood. Some more, some less. If the blood that repairs the hair is rich with male hormones, and the hair follicle is repeatedly injured, eventually the hairs will become darker, coarser, and deeper.

Every method of hair removal has its pro's and con's.

The least problematic temporary method of removing hair is cutting, trimming, shaving. Cutting, trimming, and shaving only make the hair shorter. It will not change the structure of the hair, itself.

Bleaching and depilatories are chemicals and can irritate the skin. If you choose either of these methods, ALWAYS do a test spot. You can use it for months and never react, and then BAM! a chemical burn.

Tweezing is bad. Waxing is worse. Tweezing involves plucking out individual offending hairs. Waxing rips out every hair that it comes into contact with. Not only the offending hairs, but the soft downy hairs that don't need to be removed. Eventually, those soft downy hairs (vellus) will become coarse offending hairs (terminal).

When you are ready to consider a permanent solution, there is electrolysis and laser. Laser is only effective on the coarsest, darkest hairs. The lighter the skin, the better the results. Most women's upper lips are not worth treating with laser. Electrolysis is awesome for the upper lip. It will permanently removed any color and any texture of hair from any skin color.

if I could afford removal I would but I can't. It is noticable and bothers me so I can't just let it be.

Re: Any One Likes or Uses Epicare

Have you checked prices in your area? A 15 minute electrolysis treatment in my area is under $30.
