Head scabs - Hair Problems Message Board

I have had this too - for many years now! It is not dandruff...they are actual scabs, all over my scalp. Fortunately, I have a full head of thick hair, but unfortunately, I am a picker. Even when I leave them alone, they just appear everywhere. Could it be anything to do with my vegetarian diet? I dont have this problem on any other part of my body, although for the past three years, I have been getting flakes and scabs in my ears and on the back of my neck too. I sympathise with you jonflair! Nobody seems to have an answer as to what this is!

Sorry, I am of no help, Im just posting saying I also get these scabs when I don't pick. Hopefully someone has some info to help us out. I will note that I do go through periods of danruff and itching though.

sounds like scalp psoriasis to me, I know because I have the same problem. Go to a dermatologist to get an actual diagnosis. I have been using special shampoos and all that plus your derm. can give you things for itching. I had a horrible time with scabs but since seeing the derm. and all my scabbs are like 95% gone. Check it out with your derm.
