Okay so I am 19 years old and I have this weird problem... my leg hair grows like crazy, along with my armpits and also I have LOTS of dark facial hair by my mouth and in between my eyebrows, also on lots of hair on my feet. Its strange though because oddly enough I'm losing the hair on my head... what does this stuff mean? I'm tired of constantly having to shave my legs/pluck my eyebrows.. I feel like a man!!!!! Help pleasee

Hi....Well, there are thousand's of women that have your issues you are concerned about.
For some it is purely genetic, and for others it may have a hormonal imbalance component.
Perhaps you mights consider going to a doctor for some advice.
In many other countries women with these issues are not seen in a bad light. The
programming in this country and other modern countries about what constitues true
beauty in a woman is absurd, degrading and narrow-minded. Good luck.

Thanks, yeah I'm thinking I might see an endocrinologist or something who deals with hormonal imbalances because my sister went and she had very high levels of testosterone so they put her on birth control. It just sucks becausee honestly every day I have to shave my legs, it makes me feel like I'm not a woman

Hi there College Girl!

That may be a good idea you have for the situation that causes you lots of
constirnation.
When living in Paris, France and Amsterdam,Netherlands some time ago, I was amazed to see so many gorgeous women walking around with "hairy" leg's and arm pits.
They were smiling and walking with their head held up high. No issues programmed over there! Great!
No matter if you feel like "less of a woman" because of these issues, remember that you are beautiful each and every day despite what this modern society
try's to program us with. Love yourself and always believe in yourself everyday.

You really need to see a specialist.

I'm on the pill and trust me it has done wonders, to me it is hormonal. There are three things which might help;

1. Going on the pill
2. One of those home hair removal kits I used the ipulse it did work a bit
3. Hard wax it seems to last longer

Definitely see a specialist, and you may want to ask about Spironolactone.
It is often prescribed to women with hormonal hair issues. It also works wonders for acne caused by hormonal issues too.

Re: hair overgrowth problem--female

oooh girl you have no idea how much i relate to this one, i have like male pattern growth on my face its rediculous, it stemmed from when i was in my teens, i had pcos, (polycystic ovarian syndrome) and i wasn't getting my period regularly and at that point i was like awesome, no monthly crap, being younger not realizing the consequences, now i have this to deal with, basically you need to figure out the cause, fix the cause, then proceed to get it taken care of either electrolosis or laser, but if you don't get the problem fixed before you start the hair removal, you will just end up getting fresh growth. it's funny one of my best friends actually has the same problem which amazed me because it's something you can feel very alone about, because other then boards like this and doctors visits who wants to tell people you have facial hair, it's embarassing, and we often cry to each other about it, we def have bad days where we sit in front of the mirror and just sob, because it's not fair, it's not feminine, and it's not like we as women need one more thing to lower our self esteem.
