Damaged hair from dying - Hair Problems Message Board

i've been dying my hair for about 3 yrs now (i had very dark brown hair and am now a blond) Well when i went to get it cut the stylist said it was very damaged and in horrible condition what products do you guess use to make it feel smooth and make it look great. It feels like Hay most of the time. I did try pantene but it did nothing for me at all

any suggestions?! i'm not using Clairol 5x rejuvenator shampoo. what do ya'll use?!

I use Redken Extreme (for very very chemically damaged hair), but occasionally Redken All-Soft shampoo and conditioner, and Redken Glass shine laminate. They have been the best products I've tried over the past few years, including Paul Mitchell, Biolage, Pantene, etc. The downside is that Redken is expensive. Around $9 per (small) bottle of shampoo/conditioner.

Howdy neighbor!

You should be able to find them at any salon (excluding Supercuts and places like those -- they carry Redken but I can't find the "Extreme" line at those stores).

If you're looking into them, here's a bit more info:

"Extreme" won't make your hair baby-soft or do texture miracles (in fact it felt a bit rough to me at first), but it strengthens it and you begin seeing a lot less split appearance, and more healthy shine after awhile. "All Soft" just softens and makes it look nice (and fades dye a bit quicker than usual) but doesn't do much proactively for the damage. And "Glass," the laminate, will run you around $14 (eeek!) but you should only end up using several drops per day, so that bottle lasts forever.

I had this exact same problem. I would suggest that you cut off as much of the damage as possible.
