My hair has gradually ruined my life really. I'm a 21 male and currently have pretty short hair. Before I go into the problem to which I hope to god someone can provide some kind of help for I'll just give some background.
At about 16 my hair went from healthy and straight to dry, fluffy, more wavy (although I'm certain this is down to the dryness) and sticking out all over. When I was 17 I started to have longer hair, kind of in a similar fashion to that Zac Efron guy (lol) when he had it long and all the girls liked him. I struggled massively to keep my hair even slightly manageable, spending hours each day trying to straighten it and well get it to do anything and stay that way for more than 30 minutes. Eventually I allowed my hair to get shorter as I was literally finding it impossible to do anything without my hair looking awful down to it's condition (it would go curly mid day, any sweat would make it frizzy and stick out, any wind would blow it to pieces etc). My one tactic would combating the sticking out hair was to literally where a beanie hat for about 30-40 minutes each day, which works but also gives me slight hat hair as a result...
The only way I found I could not let my hair to control my life was to keep it short, buzz cut length with a small fringe and get it cut every 2 weeks which seemed to temporarily cut out the bad hair and keep it easy to do for about 4/5 days to which it would quickly revert to being dry, take a while to style and stick up a lot. I've now got to the point where I literally have to cut my own hair every 3 days to keep the condition okay and EVEN then it's pretty bad. The main problem I'm struggling with now is the fact my hair, each day I leave it without cutting it is that it sticks up more and more. As I said before, I still have to leave a beanie hat on my head every single time I wash my hair, even with just water to reduce the amount my hair sticks out, sometimes having to go through with scissors and cut out some that is in the morning so I can go out. I have recently not been using my hat to hold it down but everything seems to have a stuck up look, especially the small fringe I have that instead of when I've worn a beanie before hand neatly lying down like it should just sticks up and out frizzy.
I do shampoo my hair daily due to doing a lot of sports and gym and getting sweaty butI have tried not shampooing my hair at all for a week and it made no difference at all. I have also tried a million different conditioners, none seem to do anything. I do have seborrheic dermatitis but no longer have any dandruff, scabs or itching on my head which I assume cannot be really causing the problem.
Literally just now I took this conditioner I use sometimes and left it on my head my longer than I usually would or is recommended and for just a brief moment my hair is actually okay, it's not sticking up, it looks good condition and feels healthy, although I know come next morning my hair will revert back to it's poor ways and the conditioner probably won't work next time.
I would love if someone could suggest something I could do, know anywhere that could help me or help me solve why this happening as It really is ruining my life. I have no confidence, it makes me feel ugly, I take hours a day to get ready, don't work because of it etc.
Thanks for taking the time to read my post, I really appreciate it.
Try a hair wax or gel and use a shampoo for frizzy hair.
A really good gel or wax should hold your hair in place all day.
Maybe this is your own personal type of hair and you may just have to live with it.
Also your hairdresser may have some advice.
