Hi there, just wanted to add that it is possible to get a viral infection of the inner ear which often follows on from an upper respiratory tract infection (which may have caused the earache you experienced initially).

This can cause a whole range of symptoms from intense vertigo to a slight sense of disequilibrium or feeling "spaced out".

In the majority of cases this is self limiting and will clear up over a matter of weeks, however if it does continue then get referred to a neuro-otologist asap.

Do a search on labyrinthitis for more info or visit the inner ear disorders board (though be warned that mot people posting here are from the small percentage who experience more long term problems as a result)
