| Re: Topamax and what it did to me
Fibrogrl, id definatly stop, if i were you.. personally find another doctor.. my doctor is no longer my doctor.. he never returned my calls either.
It baffles me when a doctor gives this type of medications knowing full well what it can and will cause for someone that they are not more responsible.. i have called the AMA(american medical association) on my doctor.. because of the extremes this medication had on me.
I am not sure why your taking topamax..and as i previously stated it might be good for someone who truely has to take this drug because there is no alternatives.
however, i have read many many ppl who have taken this drug call it the 8 weeks of pure hell they must endure to recieve a possitive outcome after.
So, is it worth it to you to continue or possibly have severe problems later and mind you im no doctor..im going on what ive seen, read, and experienced through my 5 days of hell.
if your going on 2 months of topamax and dont feel normal by that time id definatly see a nuerologist..perhaps they can tell you something more..or help you to get off of this drug...i was also told never to stop abrubtly either that it will cause seizures.. also something you dont want to deal with alone.
Just be careful and write down everything you expeirence.. adn yell at your doctor when you do see him..this is your life and he should be responding to what you are paying him for.
this angers me very much.. so many ppl needing relief, and being suckjered into taking this drug without knowing the REAL dangers of the side affects.. id most rather have been put under 24 hour watch for two months then go it alone on this drug. But then.. why go through it at all?
I called my step father he is a retired Doctor..told me i should try seeking Acupuncture for my problem with my headaches..he said he used to have massive migrains and used to have acupuncture done..and after a few visits he has never experienced them again.
I hope you get help, i hope your doctor calls you soon.. your in my prayers for a recovery.. i come back checking messages here, once a week or so.. let me know what happends k?
ps. i did read when ppl did have side affects there is virtually nothing you can do to get rid of them.. just wait the 8 weeks until they go away.. its your body getting used to the drugs..
